They need to know what everyday people want in their products, what they prefer, and what will prompt them to buy the products and services the company offers. This is called market research. By providing companies with this information, you are providing them with a valuable service. It gives them an edge on the competition and aids them in the success of their products and services. What kinds of questions will I be asked?
You will be asked a variety of questions, from where you prefer to shop to what kind of toothpaste you prefer to use. You’ll be asked about products that you try and products that you buy regularly. The idea of the questions is to get valuable information on how the company should market their products, so the questions will revolve around that concept. What is a focus group?
A focus group is made up of a group of individuals that have been selected by the company sponsoring the research or the research company hosting the group to discuss a given topic. The topic will relate to the company that is holding the focus group. You may or may not know what the point of the focus group is, or which company it’s being held for. You’re just there to share your opinions and discuss them with others in the group. These sessions can be held online or in a research center. Focus groups can take a few hours, but they can pay over $100 per hour, so it’s well worth your time. How many surveys can I take?
There is no limit to the number of surveys you can take or the number of focus groups you can participate in. The more research companies you register with, the more surveys you will complete and the more focus groups you will be invited to participate in. How long are the surveys?
Surveys can be as short as 10 questions and as many as over 50. How long are the focus groups?
Focus groups can last from half an hour to a full day, or even multiple days. How much money can I make?
The amount of money you make will depend on the amount of time you spend registering with research companies and filling out surveys or participating in focus groups. Do I need to fit a certain profile?
You do not need to fit a certain profile to sign up with most research companies. However, to be chosen for a specific survey or focus group, you will need to meet the requirements of that study. You will be chosen for the studies and focus groups that match your profile. Can anyone do this?
If you are over the age of 18, you can do this. No matter where in the world you live, you will be eligible to participate in surveys. Will I get paid per survey or per hour?
Whether you get paid by the survey or by the hour will depend on the company that you are completing the survey for or participating in the focus group with. In addition to cash, focus groups pay with cash, discounts, drawing entries, products or prizes. Do I have to pay taxes?
If you live inside the United States, you will need to pay taxes appropriate to your income-tax bracket. You will be treated as an independent contractor and taxes will not be withheld from your checks. You will be responsible for filing at the end of each year. Who will pay me?

How soon you start earning money will depend on how many research companies you register with. Some people begin earning money the same day the become members, others wait a few weeks. It will depend on your individual needs and circumstances. Why can’t you take my membership fee out of the money I’ll be earning?
We would, but we can’t. We won’t be the ones paying you. The research companies pay you directly so there is no way for us to deduct the cost of your membership from your earnings.
